About Maddy

Dancing with Traditional Kochia Dancers in Kenya

I’m Maddy, a 22 year old graduate of Western Washington University!

As a graduate with a psychology degree and a French minor, I am interested in people, culture, language, and how we can work collaboratively and fairly to solve world issues. I have traveled to France and Kenya and would love to travel all over Africa and Europe. Specifically I am interested in foreign aid in developing countries and how we can work with the people of developing countries in a way that preserves cultural integrity and doesn’t perpetuate helplessness and prejudice. Another interest of mine is HIV/AIDS in Africa and social deterrents exist to accessing treatment. I feel like curiosity and open-mindedness should go hand in hand with traveling, and I will do my best to raise important questions about mindful traveling.

I currently intern at the World Affairs Council in Seattle as a Community Programs Assistant where I help put on community programs with speakers, authors, politicians, and leaders from around the world about international affairs. When I’m not working, I love reading, writing, cooking, learning new languages (I would love to be fluent in French and Swahili) and planning events!

Contact me with any questions or if you simply want to brainstorm events, resources, and ideas.
